Dare I say it?

Day #5 of non-stop rain, with more of the same coming tomorrow and Wednesday. Dare I say it? Dare I? Okay, I will. Damn, I feel like I'm in Forks! (It had to be said.) My train station fronts the woods and with them being so green and lush today, I felt like Edward was about to come leaping out of the trees to bite my neck. Now I know how Bella felt. And so, my purple rain boots and I, we'll go trudging on together until sunshine returns. I thought it was supposed to be "April showers bring May flowers," not "April showers bring even more May showers."

Sunday

It's been raining for four days straight. At least my plants love it - the azalea bushes I planted two years ago, both on the brink of death, have come back springing to life as green as you please. I also started several new jewelry designs that went nowhere (really, really frustrating!) until finally I ended up completing a new necklace. I kept the design simple. Photos coming soon, after the sun makes its reappearance.

This is what 72 degrees looks like

Nomad is enjoying the lovely weather this weekend.

And Moxie is hard at work being a board game spectator.

Rejoicing

This is more like it! From my newspaper ~
How sweet it is: Daylight savings time arrives at 2 a.m. Sunday. (That means you need to turn your clocks forward one hour before bed Saturday night.) And we're gonna get a heck of an extra hour of daylight Sunday evening with temperatures likely to be in the 60s at sunset (7:08 p.m.) -- after afternoon highs in the mid-70s!
Happy weekend, everyone.

March's lion

I will grudgingly admit that this is really pretty. For now.

January from where I am

Frozen
Stormy
Rainy
Icy
Dark
Windy
Waterlogged
Dreary

Oh how I hate you, cruel, cruel January.

Hanna pays a visit

Tropical Storm Hanna is paying us a visit today.

Sheets of rain pounding down on our roof, and not many cars out on the roads. Mr Hazel, Nomad, Moxie and I are holing up inside pretty much all day, cozying up with blankets and books and the TV remote. Later on we plan on making heaping stacks of pancakes and bacon.

It's also a good day to head down to the basement, fire up my torch, and melt some metal.

I love rainy days!

Briolettes

I scored these pretty, pretty clear glass briolettes in the same style as the Elizabeth and Bella. The brios are really clear and pure. This pair is "Portia" after a character from Merchant of Venice, and she also dangles from gold-filled earwires that I made by hand.

Portia is now up at the shop!

At last count, it has now been raining for more than 24 hours. And every Sunday and Monday for the last five weeks (except, ironically enough, the week we were away on the cruise), it has poured. And it has been chilly.

Granted, my front yard looks very lush and the azalea bushes I nearly killed from neglect are now thriving again, but I am heartily sick of this rain. I've barely even had a chance to break out my new linen dresses because it's been too cold.

I had a major craving for a red velvet cupcake today. As all the bakeries that had them would have been closed by the time I got there, we settled for Cinnabons instead. But I'm still dreaming of that red velvet cake I had at Doughboys in L.A. a couple of years ago.
